Under Lisa Su, AMD went from near-bankruptcy to the industry's main alternative to NVIDIA: Instinct MI300-series accelerators won Microsoft, Meta, Oracle and OpenAI as customers, EPYC took large x86 server share from Intel, and the 2022 Xilinx and 2023 ZT Systems acquisitions added FPGAs and rack-scale engineering. The October 2025 OpenAI agreement — up to 6 GW of Instinct GPUs with equity warrants — was the strongest validation yet of its AI roadmap.
