SK hynix bet on high-bandwidth memory years before the boom and won: it has held roughly half or more of the HBM market through 2024–25 (TrendForce estimates), supplied the HBM3/HBM3E in most NVIDIA flagships, and shipped the first HBM4 samples in 2025. In 2025 its operating profit passed Samsung's semiconductor division — a historic reversal driven entirely by AI memory. Its Yongin fab cluster is among the world's largest chip construction projects.
