OpenAI

Company AI Labs & Software

Maker of ChatGPT and GPT-5 — and the buyer behind the biggest compute deals ever signed.

You're looking at a company record: what this company does in the AI stack, and every chip, technology, facility and company it's linked to below.

OpenAI turned the transformer into a consumer phenomenon with ChatGPT (hundreds of millions of weekly users) and set the frontier pace from GPT-3 through GPT-4, the o-series reasoning models and GPT-5. In October 2025 it restructured: a nonprofit foundation controlling a public-benefit corporation, Microsoft at roughly 27% (reported).

It is also the demand side of this database: the Stargate program with SoftBank and Oracle, the AMD 6 GW agreement with equity warrants, a Broadcom custom-chip partnership, and NVIDIA's announced up-to-$100B strategic commitment — a set of compute commitments its leadership has described at around 30 gigawatts and roughly $1.4 trillion (company statements; spending is phased over many years).
