TerraPower began non-nuclear construction at Kemmerer, Wyoming in June 2024: a 345 MW sodium-cooled Natrium reactor with molten-salt storage that can flex to 500 MW — sited beside a retiring coal plant to reuse its grid connection and workforce. Target operation ~2030; its NRC review is the pathfinder for advanced-reactor licensing.
