Chip AI Accelerator Shipping

The chip under Project Rainier — Anthropic's half-million-chip training fleet.

You're looking at a chip record: what this processor is, its key specs, who designs, manufactures and supplies its parts, and where it gets used.

Trainium2 is AWS's frontier-scale training part: 96 GB of HBM3 per chip, 1.3 dense FP8 PFLOPS, and 64-chip 'UltraServers' wired with NeuronLink. Its defining deployment is Project Rainier — the multi-site cluster AWS built with and for Anthropic, described at launch as approaching 500,000 chips and reported to be expanding toward a million by end of 2025. It is the largest non-NVIDIA AI build-out publicly known.

Specifications & key facts

Each figure is labeled by basis: vendor spec, vendor claim, reported, estimate, or official. "Not publicly disclosed" means exactly that — we never invent values.
