Microsoft Maia 100

Chip AI Accelerator Shipping

Microsoft's first in-house AI accelerator, built with OpenAI workloads in mind.

You're looking at a chip record: what this processor is, its key specs, who designs, manufactures and supplies its parts, and where it gets used.

Maia 100 marked Microsoft's entry into custom AI silicon: a 105-billion-transistor 5 nm chip with 64 GB of HBM2E, deployed in bespoke racks with a closed-loop liquid 'sidekick' cooler. Microsoft has described using it for internal services and OpenAI-related workloads; a successor generation has been reported but not fully detailed.

Specifications & key facts

Each figure is labeled by basis: vendor spec, vendor claim, reported, estimate, or official. "Not publicly disclosed" means exactly that — we never invent values.
