Power Project New Nuclear Operating Waynesboro, Georgia, US

America's newest reactors — the hard-won template for building big again.

You're looking at a power record: a real power plant or energy deal — who owns it and which AI buyer it feeds.

Photo: NRC · Public domain · Wikimedia Commons

Vogtle 3 (2023) and 4 (2024) were the first new US reactors in a generation: two AP1000s adding ~2,234 MW, seven years late and roughly double the original budget — the cautionary cost story every AI-driven nuclear conversation must answer, and also proof the US can still complete them. Georgia's data-center boom is already absorbing the output.
