AIME (Competition Math)
Olympiad-track problems — where reasoning models showed their jump.
You're looking at a benchmark record: a test the industry uses to measure chips or models — and what it actually tells you.
The American Invitational Mathematics Examination became the standard hard-math benchmark because it resists pattern-matching: GPT-4o scored ~12%, o1 ~74–83%, and 2025 reasoning models near-perfect — the single clearest before/after of test-time compute. Gold-medal IMO performances by DeepMind and OpenAI systems in 2025 extended the story.
